We’re well past the halfway point of the year, and there’s one thing that has become increasingly clear to us here at Traveltrust: companies aren’t taking full advantage of the benefits of corporate mileage accounts.
Now if you’re reading this you might be one of them, and you’re thinking “what corporate accounts?” and to that we say a-ha! Exactly!
Everyone knows about personal mileage schemes – Collect your points for travelling on British Airways for example and eventually you’ll have enough points for a free trip or an upgrade. Or, if you’re into it, you can throw them all at a pair of headphones (though we would like to stress it’s really not worth it!). But what people don’t know are that companies like British Airways offer corporate accounts that run alongside your personal mileage account. Yup, you read that right, you can get DOUBLE the miles! One for your traveller, and one for the company.
With enough people travelling in the company, eventually the company account is going to earn a free trip, or a free upgrade. Or, you may be lucky and the company may gift the flight to you for your next holiday (we’ve seen it happen, okay, only once… but it’s happened! We swear!)
And best of all, these accounts are free. What more could you ask for?
There are a lot of schemes out there, and depending on who you use most frequently will depend on who you sign up for. At Traveltust we have noticed the four main schemes used tend to be:
- BA On Business
- PartnerPlusBenefits
- BlueBiz
- Virgin FlyingCo
As they’re all free to enrol, it really doesn’t hurt to sign up for all of them. (For Virgin you’ll need to be able to state 2 travellers’ personal Flying Co membership numbers). Once you have your membership numbers, make sure you pass them on to your TMC so they can ensure all future bookings are logged and your points are earned.
