When travelling for business you want a hotel that’s comfortable and well located, featuring reliable fast wi-fi, decent sized rooms with space to work from, accessible public lounges and 24-hour operation. There are of course plenty of hotels across the globe that tick all these boxes and more but which are our picks for business travel clients in five of the world’s most popular business travel destinations?

In picking our world’s top business hotels we have considered that the above criteria need to be easily met as a minimum and thereafter have assessed each hotel on its additional merits. Obviously being ideally located is subjective depending on the business traveller’s ultimate destination but convenient access to major transport hubs is a must.

With regards to offering 24-hour service we’ve selected only hotels where guests can expect a comprehensive room service offering, at any time day or night, given the nature of the international business traveller’s schedule. Nobody wants to arrive at a hotel at 3am after a 12-hour flight only to discover they can’t get a hot drink and a sandwich!

So here we have Traveltrust’s rundown on some of the world’s top business hotels in major business travel destinations.

New York City – Moxy NYC Chelsea

If you’re a traveller who appreciates a room with a view, this Marriott-run hotel on West 28th Street, just off 6th Avenue, is very likely to appeal. A modern and well-appointed three-star hotel, the Moxy Chelsea is slap bang in the centre of Manhattan, just four blocks from the iconic Empire State Building and many of the rooms, along with the panoramic rooftop lounge, feature unrestricted views of the world’s best known art deco skyscraper.

Every room benefits from wall-to-wall windows, taking full advantage of the hotel’s position in midtown Manhattan. The closest metro station, 28th Street, is minutes away on foot and the E-line provides direct access to Brooklyn in the south and Queens to the east, from where you can connect to JFK airport.

It’s a stylish yet cosy, modern boutique hotel that manages to stand out right in the middle of one of the world’s busiest cities. Winner of multiple awards, travellers love the sizeable rooms, beautiful rooftop lounge and fine dining options on offer.

Singapore – Marina Bay Sands

If you’re visiting Singapore and have the cash to splash on a truly luxurious experience, the world-famous Marina Bay Sands is a hotel like no other that you’ll want to tick off. Its three 55-storey towers are topped by a three acre “skypark” which features landscaped gardens and swimming pools, including the world’s largest rooftop infinity pool.

It’s fair to say that most executives trying to justify putting this resort on their expense account are likely to receive more than a raised eyebrow from the finance team back home but the hotel is such an iconic Singapore landmark that it would seem rude not to at least take a trip to the top to take in the spectacular cityscape below.

This mega resort is more akin to the giant casinos of the Las Vegas strip than your typical city centre business hotel but we all deserve to treat ourselves now and again. It’s situated right on the edge of the CBD and the adjoining Bayfront station will whisk you to other parts of the bustling city state, including Changi Airport, via the incredibly efficient Singapore MRT system.

London – Great Northern Hotel

The landmark-filled UK capital is chock full of world-renowned hotels such as the Savoy, Claridge’s, the Dorchester and the Ritz however our pick for the savvy business traveller is the recently refurbished Great Northern Hotel. Situated between King’s Cross and St Pancras stations it couldn’t be easier to reach from elsewhere in London, the UK, or even from the continent – St Pancras International being the terminus for Eurostar’s direct rail link with Paris and Brussels.

This grand Victorian building was built to serve the original King’s Cross station back in 1854 but had begun to look a little shabby round the edges before undergoing significant modernisation in recent years. It’s now back to its former glory with lavish, wide and expansive corridors leading to the beautifully decorated railway themed rooms, which come in four varieties. The smaller Couchette rooms offer minimal desk space so we recommend opting for the Edwardian or above if you want to use a laptop in your room comfortably.

Frequent travellers to London will know the city’s extensive Underground system does a fantastic job connecting all the main areas of this bustling metropolis, including Europe’s busiest airport, Heathrow. Reaching the traditional banking district of the City is only 15 minutes by “tube” whilst the modern financial centre of Canary Wharf is a 30 minute journey away.

Sydney – Amora Hotel Jamison

In a city with a relatively limited public transport network it’s useful to locate yourself in the heart of the CBD for the best access to important areas of Sydney. The Amora Hotel Jamison is very close to the spectacular Circular Quay (home to the city’s two most famous landmarks: the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge) and the close by Wynyard station connects direct to the main airport using high capacity double decker commuter trains.

As well as the excellent location we love the Amora for its gorgeous minimalist rooms with stunning views and extensive business guest facilities. In particular the Jamison Club on the 31st floor makes a wonderful spot from which to ping off some emails, as well as having secluded meeting rooms available to impress any guests you may be entertaining during your stay.

The locally sourced produce in the hotel’s fine dining Croft Restaurant is also well worth a mention and rounds off the list of reasons to book yourself in on your next visit to Australia’s biggest city.

Dubai – Rose Rayhaan by Rotana

In a city that’s known for its decadent resorts the business traveller is spoiled for choice when it comes to no-expense-spared lavish and luxurious hotels catering to every whim. All of the world’s best known extravagant hotel brands are here such as Ritz-Carlton, Waldorf Astoria, Four Seasons and Shangri-La but our pick for Dubai is the Rose Rayhaan, part of the Middle Eastern Rotana chain.

Once the world’s tallest hotel, its 72 floors today rank it third on the list, behind two of its Dubai neighbours the Gevora and the Marriott Marquis. But in a city filled to the brim with shiny skyscrapers it’s not the ambitious scale of this hotel that sets it apart, rather its attention to detail inside, catering to the regular business traveller in a way many of its rivals fail to.

All rooms come complete with kitchenettes included and feature sizeable desks with comfortable chairs making working away from the office convenient and stress free. There are views from many rooms across to the world’s largest building, the monolithic Burj Khalifa, and its location couldn’t be more central. There’s a metro station next-door, on the red line, which connects directly with Dubai International Airport.
